Clouds, northwestern winds, rain, and thunderstorms brought cooler weather to western Bulgaria, including Sofia, on Sunday afternoon. Temperatures dropped to 21°C in Vidin and 20°C in Lom around 3 p. m. according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
During the night, cloud cover over western Bulgaria will decrease, leading to clearer skies, while central and eastern parts of the country will remain mostly cloudy, with rainfall expected in many areas. A light west-northwesterly wind will continue to blow.
On Monday, western Bulgaria will be mostly sunny. In eastern Bulgaria, and after midday also in the mountain areas and central northern regions, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, bringing short-lived showers and thunderstorms. The most intense weather activity is expected in northeastern Bulgaria, where conditions for hail are also possible.
Winds will strengthen, with moderate northwesterly winds expected, and skies will clear across the entire country by the end of the day.
The weather will remain dynamic, with a noticeable difference between western and eastern Bulgaria. While western regions will experience mostly sunny and relatively calm conditions, the atmosphere in the east will remain unstable, with short-lived rainfall, thunderstorms, and locally intense weather events.
Maximum temperatures will range between 26°C and 32°C. Temperatures of 32°C are expected in Sandanski, 31°C in Plovdiv and Vidin, 30°C in Montana and Yambol, 29°C in Pleven and Kardzhali, 28°C in Blagoevgrad and Burgas, 27°C in Ruse, Varna, and Veliko Tarnovo, and around 26°C in Sofia, Silistra, and Shumen.
Along the Black Sea coast, cloud cover will remain mostly significant, with rainfall expected to be heavier and more widespread along the northern coastline.
