1,174 Applicants Sit Biology and Chemistry Entrance Exams.

The applicants have been assigned to 49 examination rooms in the buildings of the Rectorate, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Teaching Building and the Jubilee Auditorium.

Traditionally, in the Jubilee Auditorium, the biology and chemistry exam versions were selected by lottery, drawn by applicants in the presence of the academic leadership, representatives of the committees, journalists and parents. More than 200 invigilators are responsible for the organisation and proper conduct of the exam day.

Dr Dobromir Dimitrov addressed the applicants, stressing that he understood the tension surrounding the exams. He said that 28 years ago he had been in the applicants’ place, had doubts about whether he would succeed and had not imagined that one day he would welcome them as rector. Dimitrov expressed confidence that the applicants would give their best, because society needs good doctors, pharmacists and veterinarians.

Interest remains highest in Medicine and Pharmacy, with 976 school-leavers applying for these programmes. A total of 198 applicants have submitted documents for Veterinary Medicine, confirming the growing interest in the university’s new field of study. The first ranking for applicants to the master’s programmes will be announced on July 10, and for applicants to the bachelor’s programmes on July 6.
