32 Illegal Migrants Detained Near Burgas After Days in Forest.
Border police detained 32 illegal migrants and their driver at the Poda checkpoint near Burgas. The migrants were severely exhausted after spending 8 to 10 days in a forest, surviving on grass and water from marshes.
The foreigners were found in an extremely exhausted condition after surviving for days in a forest, feeding on grass and drinking water from marshes. Four of them were rushed to hospital.
A total of 32 illegal migrants and their driver were detained at the Poda checkpoint at the entrance to Burgas on Saturday evening. The group was being transported in a yellow minibus with Sofia registration plates, which was stopped for inspection shortly before 10:00 p. m. The speed limit in the area is 30 km/h, allowing border police officers to carry out strict visual and physical checks.
Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov emphasized that the migrants were effectively rescued by law enforcement officers, as they were in serious physical condition due to dehydration. They were examined, but none of them was admitted to hospital.
The foreigners, who identified themselves as Afghan nationals, were in extremely poor physical condition. They told investigators that they had spent between eight and ten days in the forest while waiting for a trafficker to pick them up.

There is nothing surprising about this case. We expect increased migration pressure throughout the summer, he added.
It is believed that the driver of the minibus was also inside the vehicle together with the group, NOVA reported.
