Apple sues Open AI, accusing Chat GPT maker of stealing trade secrets.

Apple on Friday filed a lawsuit against Chat GPT developer Open AI and two of the company's executives, alleging they misappropriated Apple's trade secrets to gain an advantage in the artificial intelligence hardware race.

District Court for the Northern District of California. According to the complaint, former Apple employees Tang Tan, Open AI's Chief Hardware Officer, and technical staff member Chang Liu participated in a coordinated effort to obtain and use Apple's confidential information.

Apple alleges that Liu, who worked as an electrical engineer at the company for eight years, had access to some of its most sensitive product development information.

According to the complaint, the confidential information was used to support Open AI's hardware development efforts.

Open AI denied the allegations. In a statement, a company spokesperson said: "We have no interest in other companies' trade secrets. We remain focused on building innovative technology that empowers people every where."

Apple also claims it attempted to discuss its concerns with Open AI before filing the lawsuit but did not receive a response.

The company argues that the lawsuit and the discovery process are necessary to expose and address what it describes as the alleged misappropriation of Apple's trade secrets.
