Borissov Announces Plans for Alternative Cabinet With New Faces.

At the start of his statement, Borissov explained that the academy’s goal is to find new faces to join the party and ultimately form an alternative government with new people.

For each ministerial post in the alternative cabinet, two or three party representatives will compete. The next tours around the country in search of new party members will be in Lovech and Sliven. Borissov explained that the idea is for GERB to become the governing party again in the future.

They continue to behave like a presidential institution, the GERB leader said. He added that the role of Koprinkov, who is currently creating the party of Progressive Bulgaria, should not be underestimated.

Borissov noted that the Zhelyazkov government had collected more budget revenue in one year, while the current government had collected less. He asked: if there had been theft, as they say, why are 6 billion leva being borrowed?

According to him, Bulgaria was an excellent performer in Europe in terms of fiscal discipline and the absorption of European funds during GERB’s time in power, but today it is in an infringement procedure. Borissov recalled the period of the party’s first government after the financial crisis, stressing that spending cuts and deficit reduction were necessary at the time. In his words, it was during GERB’s first years in government that belt-tightening and deficit reduction were carried out under the conditions of a global financial crisis.
