Prosecutors Find Irregularities in Butamyata Beach Land Lease.
Burgas prosecutors found irregularities in the leasing of municipal land near Butamyata Beach. Part of the properties were allegedly improperly included in the procedure.
The scandal surrounding the land near Butamyata Beach in Sinemorets continues to escalate. Following an inspection, the Burgas Regional Prosecutor’s Office found violations in the procedure for leasing 35 decares of municipal land intended for the temporary placement of caravans, campers, and tents. According to the state prosecution, two of the four properties are privately owned municipal assets and should not have been leased in the manner carried out.
The Burgas Regional Prosecutor’s Office will challenge the decision to lease properties around Butamyata Beach in Sinemorets if the Municipal Council in Tsarevo does not revoke it. Under the Law on Municipal Property, the Municipal Council is competent to lease such properties only when they are public municipal assets. The land falls within the protected Natura 2000 zone, and according to the prosecution, an opinion from the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water should have been requested before the decision was adopted.
The Tsarevo Municipality issued a written statement noting that the Municipal Council’s decisions were submitted back in February to the and the regional governor for legality control and were not challenged at that time.
The prosecution has also identified issues related to environmental legislation. According to the state prosecution, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office has taken immediate measures to stop the violation, and the prosecutor who conducted the inspection has proposed to the Chair of the Municipal Council in Tsarevo to take steps to reopen the procedure and revoke the decision.
