Charges Filed Against Man and Woman for Human Trafficking and Violence in Stara Zagora.

A man has been charged with an additional offense of causing moderate bodily harm.

According to the evidence collected so far, the crimes were committed between February 7 and 14 in the territories of Pazardzhik, Sofia, and Stara Zagora. The investigation indicates that the young woman was abducted in the Pazardzhik area and transported first to Sofia and then to Stara Zagora.

In Stara Zagora, she was allegedly forced to provide paid sexual services, with the accused transporting her to various addresses where she met clients. Investigators claim that during her captivity, the woman was subjected to systematic physical violence — she was tied with cables, kept locked up, and beaten.

During one of the assaults, the victim suffered a fracture of her right arm, which was classified as moderate bodily harm.

After committing the alleged crimes, the two suspects left the country and were declared wanted. They were detained on July 10 upon returning to Bulgaria and held for up to 72 hours.

The District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a request to the court for the imposition of the most severe measure of remand — detention in custody.
