The investigation began after a report circulated on social media.

Petko Kamburov, Chief Inspector and head of the Traffic Police Sector at the Varna Regional Directorate, said officers acted immediately after receiving the report. Police identified both the child and the parents.

The investigation found that the car had not been directly given to the child. According to police, the child took the keys that had been left at home. Both parents have been served with written orders under the Ministry of Interior Act.

Chief Inspector Kamburov also noted that since the start of the busy summer season, police have been actively using unmanned aerial systems (drones) for traffic enforcement.

Earlier, police also reported a serious traffic accident in Varna. A 20-year-old driver crashed while drifting in the area between Vyarа Street and a nearby boulevard. The vehicle struck a curb and overturned.

The driver was not injured, while a child travelling in the car suffered cuts and was taken to hospital with no danger to life. The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Two traffic violation reports were issued, and his driving licence was suspended for one year.
