CITUB and Podkrepa to Protest Over 2026 Budget.

On Monday, June 29, at 2:00 p. m. A meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation is scheduled for the same hour on Monday, where the draft 2026 Budget will be discussed.

The trade unions do not accept the reduction of personnel spending in the public sector and the introduction of personal social security contributions for civil servants. They are also demanding the cancellation of the planned cut in budget funds for salaries and the freezing of incomes. This is one of the demands of the upcoming protest.

In addition, they are calling for the introduction of a progressive tax, not for citizens, but for companies with large profits. This will not be a protest against the government, it will not be a protest against individual political forces, it will be a protest against the lobby of millionaires, represented by employer organizations, which want all workers and employees to pay from their miserable wages so that they can accumulate millions of leva in profit, while at the same time hiding taxes and social security contributions and draining the state budget through the billions they receive from the state through public procurement and the theft of public resources, Podkrepa said.

In the draft prepared by Finance Minister Galab Donev, personnel spending is effectively kept at the 2025 level, with last year’s figure set at 12.4 billion euros.

CITUB even proposed repealing the Civil Servants Act, as it would leave only restrictions for those working in public administration.
