Rain and Thunderstorms Hit Northern Bulgaria
Cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms will affect Western and Central Northern Bulgaria. Temperatures will drop, while northwesterly winds will strengthen.
Minimum temperatures will range between 14°C and 16°C, while maximum temperatures will be between 18°C and 20°C, reaching three to four degrees higher in the far western regions. Moderate to strong west-northwesterly winds will blow. At the beginning of the day, winds will be light to moderate from the south-southeast, but after midday they will shift to the west-northwest. The wind will later turn from the northwest and strengthen.
Cloudy weather with rain will prevail today, with thunderstorms in the morning hours. Along the Black Sea coast, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop. Cloud cover will gradually increase from the northwest, and around and after midday cumulonimbus clouds will also develop, bringing rain and thunderstorms. In places, rainfall will be temporarily intense with significant total amounts. In the western and central parts of the Stara Planina mountains, the weather will also be cloudy with rain, accompanied by thunderstorms before noon.
Daytime temperatures inland will decrease, with values between 21°C and 26°C, while in Varna they will be around 24°C. Maximum temperatures at 1,200 meters will be around 14°C, and at 2,000 meters around 8°C.
Atmospheric pressure will increase, according to NIMH – Pleven. The information applies to Western and Central Northern Bulgaria.
