Employment Without Barriers to Provide 40M for Municipalities.
More than 40 million will be allocated to municipalities under the Employment Without Barriers scheme to hire unemployed people and support disaster prevention activities.
This took place during a working meeting at the Varna Regional Administration, held at the invitation of the regional governor. During the meeting, Minister Efremova presented to Mario Smarov a new initiative of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.
The Employment Without Barriers measure is funded under the Human Resources Development Programme and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. It provides over 40 million for municipalities and municipal enterprises to hire unemployed people who will support local authorities in activities related to disaster prevention and mitigation. Jobs will primarily target long-term unemployed individuals and members of vulnerable groups in the labour market. The discussion also highlighted the key role of the regional governor as a mediator between municipalities and the state in implementing the mechanism.
Each municipality will be able to apply for the new measure and define specific activities within its territory, including clearing ravines and dry riverbeds or carrying out reforestation where necessary. The role of the regional governor as an intermediary between municipalities and the state was also discussed.
The two also reviewed the work of social assistance services in the Varna region. It was noted that, with the assistance of the regional governor, individuals and families affected by heavy rainfall in the municipalities of Dolgopol and Vulchi Dol were promptly advised in order to receive state aid.
