Eugen Tomac Returns Mandate, Adrian Veștea Proposed as PM.

The president noted that Adrian Veștea had passed through all administrative stages, having served as mayor, president of the county council and also as a successful minister who attracted European funds. According to him, for example, Veștea developed the airport in Brașov, which was a success. He is a clearly pro-Western person, a person with values, a person of dialogue. Last but not least, he is someone who has worked with budgets for a long time and bears responsibility for them, the president said. Adrian Veștea, 52, is a former development minister who served in the period 2023–2024.

The chances of success for Romania’s nominated prime minister Eugen Tomac declined after another party refused to support his cabinet. The leadership of the Save Romania Union (USR), one of the parties in Romania’s outgoing governing coalition, decided today not to support the technocratic government proposed by prime minister-designate Eugen Tomac, the USR leader said. At the same time, the president thanked Eugen Tomac for the seriousness he had shown, as well as his commitment and responsibility. We took this path after consultations with the political parties. At this moment, however, it is clear that a political solution is appropriate, the head of state said.
