The mystery thriller Rupite: Baba Vanga’s Last Prophecy will be released in cinemas on November 13 this year, the production team announced.
According to the creators, the film is inspired by real facts, archives and legends surrounding Baba Vanga.
The cinematic story weaves together themes such as the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica near Rupite, the growing interest in Vanga during World War II, her relationship with Lyudmila Zhivkova, and the research of the Institute of Suggestology.
The project is produced by Hristo Hristov — Zipo and Stoyan Stoyanov — Slash, known for their film One Gram of Life, which attracted more than 200,000 viewers and was screened in more than 40 cities across 7 countries on 3 continents. The main co-producer of the new production is Bolgar Capital AD.
The creators plan to expand the cinema experience beyond theatres through the interactive game Project 42, which will continue the mystery and be available as a mobile application.
Vangelia Gushterova, born in Strumica in 1911 and deceased in 1996, gained enormous popularity during the socialist regime. Her phenomenon attracted the attention of the highest levels of the state apparatus, while her fame reached the former Soviet Union, India and even the pages of British tabloids.
