The tragedy unfolded in the central part of the city, which is located west of Hamburg and has a population of about 50,000.

The incident occurred at a youth center in the area of Dankersstraße. Police and rescue teams were immediately sent to the scene, the Daily Mail reported. German media outlets dpa, NDR and Spiegel confirmed the same number of victims and reported that the shooting took place in the area of Dankersstraße, where a large police perimeter has been set up. Law enforcement authorities urged citizens to avoid the area and leave it if they were there.

According to Bild, the shooting took place at a youth care center. At this stage, police have not officially confirmed the location of the attack.

According to Sky News, police detained a man suspected of the attack, while his motives remain unclear for now. German police detained a total of two people, including one suspected of carrying out the attack. The motive for the crime is not yet known, and the reasons behind the bloody act are still being investigated.

Police described the situation as a large and dynamic operational situation, with numerous patrols, emergency teams and forensic officers deployed to the scene. In a post on the platform X, police in Lüneburg urged citizens to avoid the area while the investigation continues. The incident prompted a large-scale lockdown of the neighborhood, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being clarified.
