Applications for First Round of High School Admissions Open from Today until July 10.

As of today, July 8, the submission of documents for participation in the first and second ranking stages for admission to schools after seventh grade begins, the Sofia City Regional Education Department said.

Applications are submitted electronically until July 10 inclusive through the system of the Ministry of Education and Science. Each child has access to the system with a personal code.

Applications can be submitted independently from any electronic device with internet access, at any time of the day. They can also be submitted with the assistance of the school where the student is completing seventh grade, through the student’s profile during working hours.

An application may also be submitted with the assistance of another school designated by the head of the Sofia City Regional Education Department as a so-called school hub, during working hours.

There is no limit to the number of preferences entered.

The Sofia Regional Education Department reminds applicants that, during the ranking process, the preference listed by the student in position No. 1 is considered first. The ranking always starts with the first preference, and the student is admitted to the highest-listed option for which their score is sufficient.

The results of the first ranking stage will be announced by July 14 inclusive. The enrolment of admitted students will take place from July 15 to 17.

For the convenience of students applying for upper secondary schools and their families, an interactive map prepared by the Sofia City Regional Education Department specifically for the 2026/2027 state admission campaign may be used, along with the table showing the number of classes, codes and score formation.

The score formation for the respective eighth-grade admission classes is determined by a decision of each school’s pedagogical council.

All necessary information about grades will be entered officially before the score formation and ranking process begins.

The system allows applications to be submitted for all regions of the country by selecting the desired region from the drop-down menu.

Due to the large volume of information, data is being transferred in stages, and it may not yet be visible at the time of filling in the application for participation in the first ranking stage. This does not prevent the application from being completed and submitted.
