Interior Ministry Reports 218 Road Deaths Since Start of Year.
According to the Interior Ministry, 218 people have died in road crashes since the start of the year. Protests have also been announced outside courthouses across Bulgaria.
Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev will also take part in the event.
Representatives of institutions, organizations, experts and citizens will gather there in a shared space for knowledge, practical demonstrations and exchange of experience. Visitors will be able to watch demonstrations of specialized equipment and rescue activities, take part in talks and educational initiatives, meet teams from control, emergency aid and civil protection services, and join activities for the youngest participants. Special attention will be paid to children — the strongest reason for us to be more careful, more patient and more responsible. They will learn important lessons about road safety, while adults will be reminded how important their personal example is.
A total of 2,966 crashes were registered during the period, and 3,673 people were injured.
Days ago a protest by the Angels on the Road Association was held in front of the Courthouse in Sofia against the long-standing inaction of institutions and in memory of all children killed on Bulgarian roads. The protest was organized on the association’s Facebook page.
