Iran Executes Two Men Accused of Being Islamic State Terrorists.
Iran has executed two men who were accused of being part of a terrorist cell linked to the Islamic State group, according to Iranian authorities.
Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) announced that it had captured senior Islamic State member Talip Guler during a special operation in Syria and transferred him to Turkey. Guler, also known by the codename Abduselam Turki, was identified by the Turkish daily Hurriyet Daily News, citing MIT.
According to MIT, after being transferred to Turkey, Guler provided authorities with information about his radicalization process, his travel to Syria, his recruitment into Islamic State, and the activities he carried out within the organization.
Talip Guler, the younger brother of senior Islamic State operative Kasim Guler, is listed among Turkey's most wanted individuals. Kasim Guler was also captured during a cross-border MIT operation in Syria in 2021.
Meanwhile, Iranian judicial authorities announced the execution of two men identified by the Iranian outlet Mizan as Mohieddin Abdollahi and Hossein Palani.
According to Iranian authorities, the two were members of a terrorist cell that had planned attacks inside Iran. Officials said the group had previously operated along the Iran-Iraq border.
