Mirchev: Budget is worse than even Jean Videnov's in 1996.
The budget is worse than even Jean Videnov's in 96. It is submitted with a deficit of 5.7%, which is extremely dangerous, with many disturbing things inside it.
Bulgaria will pay one billion leva in interest on its public debt while at the same time taking out a new loan of six billion leva. This was stated by Democratic Bulgaria MP Ivaylo Mirchev, who said there is no reasonable explanation for why this is being done.
According to him, one of the facts that is not being discussed enough is the size of the interest payments on the country’s overall debt against the backdrop of new borrowing.
Mirchev said he does not see any real action to dismantle the corruption model. In his view, there is no genuine fight against that model.
He also commented on the revelations made by Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev about Delyan Peevski’s trips to Dubai, after Mirchev’s formation filed a report late last year over discrepancies in the DPS leader’s income. According to him, Peevski declared one thing as a member of parliament, while the companies in which he holds shares and which paid dividends declared something entirely different.
Mirchev praised the cabinet only for the fact that party leaders Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski no longer have state security protection.
He also commented on the appointment of Plamen Manolov to a key position at the Water and Sewerage Holding. According to him, there have been enough media reports about Manolov concerning alleged corrupt practices at the National Sports Base.
Mirchev also said that the parliamentary committee remained under the control of the same people, in this case GERB.
