NHIF Announces Halt in Sales of Some Insulins.

Health institutions and medical specialists have been informed in a timely manner about the upcoming change, the Fund said. The information is being announced in advance to provide the necessary time to organise the treatment of affected patients.

The NHIF published an official notice informing the public about the upcoming discontinuation of sales of certain types of insulin. A detailed list of the names of the affected medicines is available on the institution’s official website. The decision was announced well ahead of its effective date to give medical specialists and patients enough time to organise treatment in a timely manner and avoid interruptions.

Patients should not stop or change their treatment on their own, and information about future treatment will be provided by their attending physician. Existing prescriptions and protocols remain valid until they expire or until the attending physician decides otherwise. The doctor will determine the specific steps for switching to alternative treatment in accordance with the rules for prescribing and dispensing medicinal products. Patients with questions may contact their attending physician or an endocrinologist.

The three products contain classic human insulin, which in modern medicine is being replaced by contemporary insulin analogues.
