Overloaded Trucks Not Allowed to Leave Port Burgas EAD.

Every lorry leaving a terminal of the state port operator must pass over a weighbridge for a check of its total weight.

The control is being applied by order of Transport Minister Georgi Peev and by order of the executive director of Port of Burgas EAD, Yanko Melkonyan. The measure was introduced to improve road safety.

If the weight exceeds the permitted limit, the lorry is not issued the required weighbridge slip and the vehicle is not allowed to leave the port.

The driver is required to unload part of the cargo or redistribute it, after which the lorry is weighed again.

The weighing results are compared with the legally permitted values according to the configuration and number of axles of the vehicle.

Each driver is issued dispatch and weighbridge slips, which include the vehicle’s registration number and total weight.

Port of Burgas said that all employees involved in cargo loading and dispatch have been informed of the new control procedure.
