A massive fire broke out yesterday morning in the northern industrial zone of Targovishte, destroying a wood pellet production facility and causing serious material damage.

Fire Destroys Wood Pellet Plant in Targovishte

The fire was reported on July 1 at 07:14.

Raw materials for production, machinery, a forklift and other inventory were destroyed in a fire at a wood pellet workshop in Targovishte. The fire also destroyed a roof structure and a hall with a total area of about 800 square meters. Valuable machinery, a forklift, available inventory, finished products and raw materials prepared for pellet production were burned in the blaze.

Fire crews from Targovishte were immediately dispatched to the scene and began fighting the fire. Thanks to the professional response of the firefighters, the fire was prevented from spreading to a number of important nearby sites, including two adjacent buildings, photovoltaic panels, a shed with stored tires, many parked cars and additional equipment.

After the fire was brought under control, teams from the Targovishte Regional Fire Safety and Civil Protection Service remained at the site throughout the day to monitor it because of the risk of reignition due to the high temperatures. A detailed inspection of the scene was carried out by the competent authorities.
