Pleven Municipality Honors Young Chess Champion Kaloyan Yolov.
Pleven Municipality awarded young chess champion Kaloyan Yolov a honorary plaque after his national U10 title. He achieved an undefeated performance in the tournament.
During a meeting with Mayor Dr. Valentin Hristov, the third-grade student, who is the Bulgarian national champion in classical chess for boys under 10, was accompanied by his coach Dario Dereshki and his father Ivan Yolov. Kaloyan is a competitor of the chess club Spartak Pleven XXI, where he trains under coach Misho Gigov. Valentin Hristov congratulated the young competitor and emphasized that every such success is a source of pride for Pleven.
The tournament was held in Kyustendil between June 2 and 7 and brought together the strongest young chess players from across the country. Over nine rounds, Kaloyan demonstrated the qualities of a true champion, finishing undefeated with an impressive score of 8.5 points out of 9, his father Ivan Yolov said. He added that after days of extremely intense battles and concentration, Kaloyan prevailed over the best young chess players in the country and deservedly won the title.
Valentin Hristov said he is happy that such persistent, intelligent, and talented children are growing up in Pleven. Coach Dario Dereshki shared that Kaloyan has proven that great success comes to those who do not give up, work hard, and follow their dreams with all their heart.
