The family of Martin Velev has announced details of the funeral ceremony in his memory. His relatives will say their final farewell to him on July 14 in Sofia.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p. m. Sophia, where relatives, friends, and loved ones will be able to pay their last respects to the young man.
The 36-year-old son of Vesela Lecheva died on July 10 after an accident involving a jet ski in the Sithonia area of the Halkidiki peninsula in Greece. According to initial information, while maneuvering the jet ski, he was struck by a strong wave, which caused injuries and threw him into the water.
Another jet ski rider immediately came to his aid and pulled him from the sea unconscious. A medical team arrived at the scene and began resuscitation efforts, but despite the doctors’ attempts, his life could not be saved.
Martin Velev was transported by ambulance to the health center in Agios Nikolaos, where doctors confirmed his death.
In a message filled with grief, his family said they would accompany their beloved son, husband, father, friend, relative, and colleague on his final journey. They described him as a person who left a lasting mark on the lives of everyone who knew him.
Martin Velev was the son of Vesela Lecheva, chairwoman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, and businessman Manol Velev.
