Rumen Radev: Bulgaria requested removal from sanctions list of person linked to Sofia metro safety.
For the first time, Bulgaria openly stated its national interest and for the first time we see that there is nothing scary about it, the president told journalists in Paris.
President Rumen Radev said Bulgaria had insisted on removing an individual linked to the safe operation of the Sofia Metro from the latest European Union sanctions package against Russia.
His comments came after the EU decided to remove Patriarch Kirill and Russian businessman Vagit Alekperov from the latest sanctions package against Russia.
Regarding the proposed missile defense coalition, Radev said that all decisions related to collective security would be made within the appropriate international framework.
The president also commented on the possibility of revising the budget deficit between the first and second readings of the state budget, saying this was not possible because the current deficit had been inherited from previous governments.
They can only be strong when they defend their national interest, and such an approach is respected by all partners, Radev said.
According to the president, when the European Union adopts its 21st package of sanctions against Russia, it should also assess why additional sanctions are necessary and evaluate the impact of the previous 20 packages.
