Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak called for the creation of a detailed forecasting model for the country's fuel market in order to identify potential supply problems in a timely manner and implement preventive measures, Reuters reported, citing BTA.
The decision was made following a government meeting held late on Thursday.
Alexander Novak instructed officials to develop a forecasting model for the regional fuel market, with the most detailed breakdown possible across all key parameters, the statement said.
The cabinet meeting took place amid fuel shortages in Russian-controlled Crimea, where gas stations were left without supplies.
Reports of fuel shortages in around a dozen Russian regions were shared by media outlets and social media users, according to data collected by Reuters.
The situation remains tense as Ukraine has for months targeted Russian refineries, pipelines, and fuel depots in an effort to limit Moscow’s ability to finance the ongoing fourth year of the war.
The model will help identify bottlenecks and support the implementation of preventive measures, according to a statement from the Russian government.
All existing mechanisms must be designed in a way that ensures stable supplies and balanced prices for all market participants, Novak said in the statement.
Representatives of oil companies said they are working to ensure production facilities operate at full capacity in order to meet domestic demand.
