Six Killed in Shooting at Youth Centre in Germany.

The victims — four women and two men — were social workers responsible for child protection, a spokesperson said. One person died while medics were trying to resuscitate him, and a sixth person later died from his injuries.

Footage later shown by Bild showed police surrounding and detaining two people from a car travelling along a road with a flat tyre, Reuters reported. Police described the incident as a multiple homicide in the town of Stade, near the port city of Hamburg. The motive for the attack was initially unclear. One other person was injured and remains in stable condition, a police spokesperson told AFP.

Police opened fire on the vehicle, but neither the female driver nor the passenger was shot, Schuol said. The suspect in the shooting is a Turkish citizen born in Germany who lives in Hanover, 200 km south of Stade, police said in a statement. The man did not have a firearms permit. Police later said that a sixth adult had died in hospital from his injuries. Police said two people had been detained, including the suspected shooter, and warned people to stay away from the area where the incident occurred. Later, however, authorities said there was no danger to the public.

German media initially reported that four women and one man were dead. Police said the incident took place at a youth centre in Stade, a town of nearly 50,000 people located west of Hamburg.
