Sozopol Bans Electric Scooters on Republic Street and Off-Road Vehicles in Old Town.

The strict measures take effect immediately with the aim of improving public safety, reducing noise and preserving the calm atmosphere in the most visited areas of the seaside resort.

The measure follows numerous complaints from citizens about public order violations, excessive noise and risks posed to pedestrians. As a result, the movement of personal electric vehicles is now prohibited on Republika Street, with the goal of preventing dangerous situations and accidents.

At the same time, the municipality is restricting access for ATVs, UTVs and other off-road vehicles to the Old Town.

Commenting on the restrictions, Sozopol Mayor Tihomir Yanev said the decisions were not arbitrary but were driven by the need to protect residents and the many tourists visiting during the busy summer season.

The goal is for public spaces to remain what they were created to be – places for walks, meetings, relaxation and play, not places where a dangerous situation can occur at any moment, Yanev said.

According to the mayor, Sozopol follows a different rhythm during the summer, welcoming thousands of tourists, families with children and elderly people every day. The local authorities’ main priority is to provide a safe and peaceful environment for everyone.

The measure is also expected to help reduce dust and noise pollution in the historic part of Sozopol.
