Construction of New Academic Rowing Base Begins in Ruse's Lipnik Forest Park.

An official groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of a project for a new sports facility located near the rowing canal in Ruse. The complex is designed for sports activities and will include eight buildings with a total built-up area of 1,026 square meters.

The facility will feature a boat hangar, a gym with changing rooms, three accommodation bungalows for athletes with a capacity of up to 10 people each, an administrative building, a dining hall with a serving area, and sanitary facilities. All structures will be built using metal frames and thermal panels.

The new base will provide modern conditions for the development of academic rowing in Ruse. It will offer year-round training opportunities, storage facilities for boats and equipment, the organization of training camps, and accommodation for teams during competitions.

The project also includes the construction of a pontoon, a recreational gazebo, and vehicle and pedestrian access from a nearby street.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayors Borislav Rachev and Nikola Lazarov, representatives of the Lokomotiv Ruse Academic Rowing Club led by coach Tsonyo Grigorov, the director of the Regional Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate in Ruse, as well as representatives of the contractor and design team.

Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov said the new facility is part of ongoing efforts to improve rowing infrastructure in the city, which has a long-standing tradition in the sport.

In recent years, we have consistently improved the conditions for rowing sports because Ruse has traditions that deserve to be further developed, Milkov said.
