Sofia Municipality Revokes Powers of Vrabnitsa District Mayor and Chief Architect.
Sofia Municipality has revoked the delegated powers of the mayor and chief architect of the Vrabnitsa district following violations in construction control. The measures are preventive and aim to ensure legality pending decisions by competent institutions.
Sofia Municipality is taking a new stage of action in connection with established violations in the exercise of construction control in the Vrabnitsa district.
Today, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev signed an order terminating the delegated powers of Vrabnitsa district mayor Rumen Kostadinov related to the exercise of powers under the Spatial Development Act concerning construction control.
By a separate order, signed by the acting chief architect of Sofia Municipality, architect Simeon Simeonov, the delegated powers of the chief architect of Vrabnitsa district related to the coordination and approval of investment projects are also being terminated.
The termination of the delegated powers is preventive in nature. The aim is for construction control activities and the coordination of investment projects to be carried out directly by Sofia Municipality until the competent institutions issue their final decisions.
The measure aims to ensure the lawful conduct of administrative procedures, prevent new doubts about their legality and protect the public interest.
The actions taken are a direct result of the successive inspections and institutional steps already undertaken by Sofia Municipality in the case.
The inspection was carried out by the Anti-Corruption Inspectorate with the assistance of experts from the Urban Planning and Development department, and the mayor of Sofia approved the report from the joint inspection.
