Sofia University Elects Rector for Term Until November 2027.

At the beginning of the meeting, a vote is expected on whether media representatives will be allowed to attend the election of the rector of Sofia University. Sofia University said that during today’s General Assembly it will become clear how many of its representatives are present.

The General Assembly is the university’s highest governing body. It consists of 400 people — representatives of the academic staff employed by the university under a primary employment contract, administrative and support staff, students and doctoral candidates.

Members of the academic staff account for 336 of the total number of General Assembly members, including 84 non-habilitated lecturers.

There are three candidates for rector of Sofia University. They presented their programmes to the academic community in June. Among them is Prof.

By order of the minister of education and science dated May 15, Prof. Parvan Parvanov was appointed acting rector of Sofia University until a new rector is elected, but for no longer than six months.
