Toll System to Monitor Trucks in Overtaking Lane.

The National Toll Administration is introducing a new function in the toll system that will make it possible to detect heavy goods vehicles using the overtaking lane in violation of existing restrictions.

The new mechanism has been developed on the model of the already operating control system for driving in the emergency lane. It will be applied in sections where restrictions on the movement of heavy goods vehicles have been introduced with road sign B25 and where toll administration control points are located. When a truck is detected in the overtaking lane, the system will generate an evidentiary record containing several images of the vehicle — from the front, from the rear and a panoramic image. The record will also include information about the date, time and location of registration, the detected traffic lane, the vehicle category and the current speed.

Initially, the new function will be active in 15 sections. The generated evidentiary material will be provided to the Ministry of Interior for subsequent law enforcement action.

The introduction of the new function is part of measures to improve road safety during the active summer season, when motorway traffic is significantly heavier. The goal is to restrict heavy goods vehicles from using the overtaking lane in violation of the introduced restrictions, improve traffic organization and ensure safer and calmer travel for all road users.
