Trump Threatens New Strikes on Iran as Tehran Closes Strait of Hormuz.

The United States will hit Iran very hard tonight and will soon take control of the country's oil and gas infrastructure and markets, U.S. President Donald Trump said, according to Reuters.

In the near future, we will take over Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure facilities and assume full control of their oil and gas markets, similar to what we did in Venezuela, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Iran announced that it is closing the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels. Due to the tensions caused by the aggression of U.S. forces in the region, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice, the Gulf Maritime Authority, responsible for regulating shipping in the region, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington, which came into force on April 8, has effectively become meaningless following the latest U.S. airstrike overnight, AFP reported, citing Iranian officials.

At least three people were injured in the Tehran area during the U.S. strikes carried out overnight, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported, citing a medical official.
