Architecture School Gathers Young Talent in Varna

The school presents leading topics and trends in the development of urban and suburban environments, united under the conceptual direction Transforming the City. These include cultural heritage, green architecture and urban greenery, as well as cultural infrastructure in public spaces, while exploring their connection to the current reduce–reuse–recycle approach. The program is aimed at young people aged 16–29 and again welcomes participants from Varna, across Bulgaria and from abroad.

The application competition is open until June 15, with no application or tuition fees. From June 20 to July 19, over five weekends, the training program will take place with the participation of young Bulgarian architects and specialists from Bulgaria and abroad. The training includes lectures, presentations and field work, introduction to leading architectural and urban topics in an international context, basic knowledge and skills in the field, teamwork, presentation skills, material work, and the development and presentation of final group projects in an urban environment.

The final program from July 20 to 23 will bring participants together with leading lecturers from Bulgaria and abroad, who will join in person or remotely. Among them are the director for the European Union Prize for Architecture at the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona, architect Ivan Blasi, teams from Greece and Germany behind awarded projects in the Young Talent Architecture Award, part of the main European prize, Goethe-Institut Bulgaria director Dr. Kirsten Hackenbroch, as well as architects and university lecturers from Bulgaria, South Korea and the United States. The program also includes Bulgarian students in architecture, urbanism and green policies studying in Bulgaria, Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Sweden and South Korea.
