U.S. Launches New Strikes on Iran After Tanker Attack.

For a second day in a row, the United States has launched strikes on Iran, once again citing an attack against a commercial vessel as the reason. The attacks came after an alleged Iranian drone struck another commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

CENTCOM said the latest attack happened at about 4:30 a. Explosions were reported on Qeshm Island, an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz, and in Sirik, a coastal Iranian area on the Gulf of Oman.

President Donald Trump warned that Saturday’s attacks could be a precursor to more intense fighting if Iran fails to comply with Washington’s expectations. He criticized Iran for repeatedly violating the ceasefire memorandum, an accusation both sides have exchanged.

CENTCOM said the attack violated the ceasefire and threatened freedom of navigation through one of the world’s most important trade routes.

Earlier strikes on Friday targeted Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.
