Yellow Weather Alert for Storms, Rain and Hail in 23 Regions.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail in 23 regions, with strong winds in others.
Separately, in the regions of Vidin, Vratsa, and Montana, the warning has been issued solely due to strong winds. During the day, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop over the country.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a first-degree warning — a yellow code — for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail in 23 regions across the country. In nine regions of Western and Central Bulgaria, a warning for strong winds has also been issued. Short-term rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in many places, with conditions for hail formation in some areas.
In Central and Eastern Bulgaria, as well as in mountainous regions, precipitation amounts will be significant. In the 23 regions under warning, rainfall is expected to reach 30–35 liters per square meter, while in the Rhodope region local accumulations may reach up to 50 liters per square meter. Winds will be light to moderate, temporarily strengthening in the Danubian Plain, the western part of the Upper Thracian Plain, and along the Struma River valley, coming from the north-northwest.
Maximum temperatures will mostly range between 20°C and 25°C, with around 19°C in Sofia. In the mountains, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, bringing short-term rainfall and thunderstorms in many places. Winds will be weak to moderate, mainly from the west-northwest. The maximum temperature at 1200 meters will be around 14°C, and at 2000 meters around 6°C.
