Drunk Driver with 4,6 Promil Alcohol Detained in Bistritsa.
A 45-year-old driver was detained with 4,6 promil alcohol in the capital's village of Bistritsa after a report from citizens. Fast-track proceedings have been initiated, and his car has been seized.
Police arrested a 45-year-old driver in the Sofia village of Bistritsa after he registered a breath alcohol reading of 4.6 following reports of dangerous driving.
Shortly before noon, local residents called the emergency number 112 to report a vehicle being driven erratically. The report was forwarded to the duty officers at the Eighth Police Precinct, who dispatched a patrol to the area.
Officers located the vehicle, stopped it and detained the driver. A breathalyzer test recorded a blood alcohol reading of 4.6, and the man was issued a referral for a blood test.
After officers signaled him to stop, he complied and was checked, said Commissioner Lyubomir Minkov, head of the Eighth Police Precinct.
According to Minkov, residents noticed the driver's erratic behavior before alerting the authorities. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was weaving, and the driver appeared unable to judge the distance to other vehicles or the road markings.
He was driving erratically, weaving and had no clear sense of the distance between vehicles or the road markings, Minkov said.
The vehicle belongs to the driver and will be confiscated in accordance with Bulgarian law.
