Zashtita Union Begins Hunger Strike at Alexandrovska Hospital.

The drastic measure was prompted by a request submitted under the Access to Public Information Act. Through it, the union representatives requested official data on the salaries of the hospital’s management, as well as clear criteria for how they are determined.

The Zashtita National Trade Union says that instead of a response to the request, a disciplinary procedure was initiated. Representatives of the organization have already officially informed the minister of health about the tension that has arisen. The union says that if the competent institutions fail to respond, additional protest actions in the healthcare system will be discussed.

If the competent authorities do not react adequately, the professional organization warns that it will discuss moving toward mass protest actions across the entire healthcare system in defense of the labor rights of medical specialists.
